Statement by President Elect Donald Trump on the passing of Fidel Castro

Today, the world marks the passing of a brutal dictator who oppressed his own people for nearly six decades. Fidel Castro’s legacy is one of firing squads, theft, unimaginable suffering, poverty and the denial of fundamental human rights.

“While Cuba remains a totalitarian island, it is my hope that today marks a move away from the horrors endured for too long, and toward a future in which the wonderful Cuban people finally live in the freedom they so richly deserve.

“Though the tragedies, deaths and pain caused by Fidel Castro cannot be erased, our administration will do all it can to ensure the Cuban people can finally begin their journey toward prosperity and liberty. I join the many Cuban Americans who supported me so greatly in the presidential campaign, including the Brigade 2506 Veterans Association that endorsed me, with the hope of one day soon seeing a free Cuba.”
Statement by the Prime Minister of Canada on the death of former Cuban President Fidel Castro

The Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, today issued the following statement on the death of former Cuban President Fidel Castro:

It is with deep sorrow that I learned today of the death of Cuba’s longest serving President.

“Fidel Castro was a larger than life leader who served his people for almost half a century. A legendary revolutionary and orator, Mr. Castro made significant improvements to the education and healthcare of his island nation.

“While a controversial figure, both Mr. Castro’s supporters and detractors recognized his tremendous dedication and love for the Cuban people who had a deep and lasting affection for “el Comandante”.
“I know my father was very proud to call him a friend and I had the opportunity to meet Fidel when my father passed away. It was also a real honour to meet his three sons and his brother President Raúl Castro during my recent visit to Cuba.

“On behalf of all Canadians, Sophie and I offer our deepest condolences to the family, friends and many, many supporters of Mr. Castro. We join the people of Cuba today in mourning the loss of this remarkable leader.”

Freedom Watch , the independent organization that rates freedom around the world , gives Cuba a not free designation  and the USA a free designation .

Over one million Cubans escaped Cuba to freedom in the USA. Zero Americans escaped the USA for freedom in Cuba.

Freedom House  Scores –1 the best and 7 the worst

Cuba –politial rights –7, civil liberties 6

USA—political rights—1, civil liberties 1

Just a few years ago when Justin Trudeau was an MP he was asked what countries he admired. He said China. So we should not be surprised by this latest admiration for Cuba.

As a Canadian I hereby disassociate myself from the remarks of the Prime Minister.

  1. Here, here. Castro was evil ans Kid Trudeau’s comments on his death are an embarrassment to Canada and what Canada stands for. Trudeau can remove me from the list of Canadians that he spoke on behalf of and I’m about to write him a letter demanding a retraction.

    • I,too, remove myself from those Canadians that Justin Trudeau so freely includes in sending condolences on the death of Fidele Castro….a disgrace to the Cuban People. I, for one do not condone wholesale murderers within any society;who in my humble opinion is / was on the same page as Adolph Hitler and the current Assad.

  2. If Trump or Trudeau were honest they would just say that Che was provided by the same type casting hot temp agency as Thomas Paine and Castro played his role as a mummer for hire. Like Obama, like Trump. It just theatre like NFLD’s poverty of leadership values, Snook analysed all this, and deemed it less real than Wrestlemania. Castro was a politician who loved his people, but he was in charge of nothing – a figurehead like Danny Chavez – bought and paid for whether he knew the whole story himself.

Trump. Trudeau. Seriously? People believe that they are really real? Come on.

What did Batman or Superman say about Fidel’s passing? Lois Lane and Alfred have any condolences I wonder? Get real Brian. Speak to economics and intelligence. Fidel was put to bed the day Che arrived on his Sea-doo. Ben Franklin had lightning on a string, then, he got Paine. What does Canada stand for in 2016? Will Hardrian build a wall for us in 2048? (Hardrien…I dunno.) Stop trolling the figurehead’s figurekids? I really think you should all meditate on what is real, and what is for show. Merry Christmas. I am drunk, and moderate. Trump and Fidel and Trudeaus and Bushes are not real. Just a mummer’s dance. Mummering is real. It is the basis of all politics. Hold on to the stove… They might ban chimney’s again. Granny will suffer and die in hospital for profit. Double bill her hard, you know that she is old. Don’t mind the buckles in the roads, etc etc etc just watch Joey cry Cuba for Fidel at the NFB. Mummers looking around the global harbour for each other.
