‘OH, to be in England now that April ’s there
And whoever wakes in England sees, some morning, unaware,
That the lowest boughs and the brushwood sheaf
Round the elm-tree bole are in tiny leaf,
While the chaffinch sings on the orchard bough
In England—now! ‘
Browning was right , of course. But Not just because its April and Spring in 2017.
But because Theresa May, the PM , has called an election! If I was there I would campaign for her.
She wishes a strong mandate to begin the tough Brexit negotiations. And given she has some negative Tories on her flank and she does not have her own mandate , who can blame her.

I suspect , given the abysmal state of the Labor Party , and the still strong negative feeling on many Brits about EU membership , i.e. Loosing sovereignty over things like immigration , that Prime Minister May will get a strong mandate. Contrary to many negative voices , there are many who like free , fair trade , but among equal sovereign states , and not leading towards power being vested in some unelected entity , headquarter in another country.
