Honda is Canada’s Latest Welfare Recipient

I mean if you are to lavash billions of taxpayer dollars on battery plants , the car companies themselves better get in on the act .

And so as night follows day Ottawa and Toronto, Federal and Ontario  Governments fork out borrowed money to a wealthy Japanese car maker.

The scale of the support is huge.

The project is to cost $15 billion—at least now at the outset.

And taxpayers are to kick in $5 billion  —$2.5 billion from each of the Governments. That’s one third of the cost.

How many new jobs —1000.

Is that $5 million per job?

Of course, this is alleged to save the existing jobs, too. . But you have to say that politically to bring down the cost of the new job. And there was $131 million government assistance provided on the existing infrastructure.

And how about this?

Reuters just reported that Honda is projected to make  $8 .4 billion on operating profit this year.

And these electric vehicles that this project is to promote are not selling—-Ford is losing over $60,000 per electric vehicle.

And this is not green . The cobalt and lithium used in batteries is from environmentally polluting mines and often using slave labour and the wind turbines and solar farms destroy millions of acreas of land and disrupt the ecology.

Ah, Canada —your fatal taste for socialism and the wok agenda keeps you an economic cripple !!

  1. If parasitism, favouritism, corruption, and greed for the unearned did not exist, a mixed economy would bring them into existence.

Fascism = Communism but for the advanced society with a large middle class and is spawned by the mixed economy welfare state.

The basic and crucial political issue of our age is: capitalism versus socialism, or freedom versus statism. Having a mind of your own, or having “deer leederz” and their “exspurtz” commanding you and your values. Life or death. Not an economics issue, BUT A MORALITY ISSUE.

ASSOCIATING PRINCIPLES OF TRUTH AND MORALITY (epistemology-ethics respectively) WITH POLITICS is both inescapable and rational. The problem however is our ancient traditions about truth and morality. These deliver vulnerability to mysticism and human sacrifice (vs reason and human flourishing).

Valid principles (concepts having valid correspondence with reality) of truth and morality, partially discovered and disseminated by Aristotle, have only been derived and disseminated very recently (1950’s). Controversial, but not very difficult to understand.

  2. Wind turbines EV’s batteries and solar panels involve rare earth metals and other compounds that are highly toxic making people mining them very sick and disposal of materials very hazardous, not to mention damage to wildlife they cause. We need HSE laws for every form of energy.

“Clean energy” ain’t clean, nor does it produce energy in the time, quantities, or economics that is required to be of any value.

    • 100% in agreement. I see hundreds of brand new high power solar panels going in the garbage right off the delivery truck that have been damaged on route. They still work but the glass sheet on top is shattered in place. Because there are no recycling depots in North America that can accept these working panels they are tossed in the trash.

Silica, lead and many mined metals go into the production of these panels. They are tossed in the garbage. Here in NS the wind destroys a ton of these panels. They are tossed in the garbage.

Green!! Is nothing more than a money making scheme for large entities like Blackrock, State Street, Vanguard etc. and at what real cost to the environment??
